Honor has announced the Robot Phone at MWC 2026, a high-end flagship device featuring a motorised gimbal, AI-driven motion tracking, and immersive interaction capabilities, signalling a new direction in mobile technology.
Honor is trying to turn the smartphone into something closer to a small, mobile camera rig with the Robot Phone, a device first previewed at CES 2026 and then shown in fuller form at MWC 2026. According to the company, the handset is meant to push beyond conventional screen-and-voice interaction by combining motion, spatial awareness and AI-driven imaging in one package. Honor says a launch in China is planned for the second half of 2026, with an Indian release likely to follow later.
The most striking element is its motorised camera assembly. Honor says the Robot Phone uses a compact gimbal module, reduced in size by 70%, paired with a 200-megapixel sensor and three-axis stabilisation. That setup is designed to keep footage steady while tracking moving subjects, a capability usually found in dedicated camera gear rather than a phone. The company has also said the device can rotate and move dynamically, giving it a more animated and interactive feel than current smartphones.
Reports from MWC 2026 suggest Honor is positioning the handset as part of a broader AI strategy rather than a novelty product. The company has described the Robot Phone as an example of embodied AI, meaning software that reacts to the physical world as well as user input. Demo material at the show indicated the device could follow users, respond to voice and music cues and support more playful interactions, including gesture-based controls. Tech sites covering the launch said Honor is aiming at a new category of device, not just a revised camera phone.
The rest of the specification sheet, as published in early coverage, points to a high-end flagship. Expected features include a 6.71-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon-class processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and a 7,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging and wireless charging support. The phone is also said to carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and ship with Android 16 and MagicOS. If those details hold, the Robot Phone would be built as much for endurance and content creation as for everyday use.
Pricing has not been confirmed, but current estimates place the handset near the top of the market, at about Rs. 99,990 in India. That would make it a niche purchase even before any final launch details emerge. For now, the Robot Phone remains a statement of intent: Honor wants to show that the next generation of smartphones may not merely capture the world better, but move within it.
