Honor’s innovative Robot Phone, featuring a built-in three-axis gimbal, has launched in European import shops at prices significantly above Chinese retail. The device’s premium positioning and potential wider release highlight a disruptive shift in high-end mobile photography markets.
Honor’s Robot Phone has reached European import shops at a price that underlines just how far the device sits outside the normal camera-flagship market. The phone’s defining feature is its built-in three-axis gimbal, a mechanical stabiliser that gives it a markedly different approach to mobile photography. In China, the 12GB/512GB version launched at 10,000 yuan, or about €1,285, while the 1TB model was listed at 13,000 yuan, roughly €1,670, placing it in the same broad price territory as high-end foldables and top-tier iPhones in that market.
For European buyers willing to import, the premium is steep. Notebookcheck reports that AverageDad, Trinity Electronics and Giztop are already offering the device for shipment into Europe, although Tradingshenzhen has not listed it yet. The entry model is priced at about €1,740 with Trinity Electronics, €1,750 with Giztop and €1,790 with AverageDad. The 16GB/1TB version rises to roughly €2,203, €2,275 and €2,385 respectively. That leaves import pricing around 30% to 36% above the Chinese launch level, before any buyer-specific costs are considered.
There are practical caveats as well. Previous Notebookcheck coverage of imported Chinese camera phones has repeatedly warned that buyers should factor in shipping charges, customs duties, network band compatibility and warranty support, all of which can materially affect the real cost of ownership. In this case, AverageDad says German and Austrian taxes are already included in its quoted prices, while Giztop appears to make the same claim in its explanation; Trinity Electronics does not provide a similar clarification.
The listing also suggests that an official wider launch may follow, since a global product page for the Robot Phone is already live. If that happens, the eventual retail price may still end up higher than the current import offers, reflecting the position Honor appears to be carving out for the device as a premium, niche camera handset rather than a conventional flagship. All three import sellers cited by Notebookcheck are offering both colour options, with dispatch dates set for 19 or 20 August.
