HP’s ZBook Ultra G3a starts at Rs 2,89,990 before tax and combines AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO processors with up to 192GB of memory for running demanding AI workloads locally.
HP has launched the ZBook Ultra G3a 16-inch mobile workstation in India, broadening its professional laptop range with a machine aimed at users who want to run artificial intelligence tasks locally rather than relying entirely on cloud services. The company says the system is built for AI developers, engineers, designers and content creators, and is intended to handle demanding workloads on the device itself.
According to HP’s Indian product specifications, the ZBook Ultra G3a is powered by AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO processors, including the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495. HP says that chip can reach a maximum boost clock of up to 5.2GHz, with 16 cores, 32 threads and 64MB of L3 cache. The company lists support for up to 192GB of LPDDR5x memory in one set of specifications, while another configuration page references up to 128GB, suggesting that memory limits vary by model and configuration.
The headline feature is the workstation’s emphasis on local AI processing. HP says the device is designed to support large language models and other AI workloads directly on the laptop, which can reduce dependence on remote servers for some tasks. That positioning is consistent with the wider trend in mobile workstations, where vendors are increasingly combining high-capacity memory, dedicated AI acceleration and workstation-grade security for professionals working away from the office.
HP says the ZBook Ultra G3a can support up to 300 billion-parameter large language models and includes a 55 TOPS neural processing unit. The company also says the system can be configured with up to 160GB of dedicated video memory, although these figures depend on the final configuration selected. The machine is aimed at users handling model development, complex engineering workflows and high-resolution content production.
Despite its workstation credentials, HP is pitching the laptop as portable. The company says it measures about 17.9mm thick and starts at roughly 1.9kg, while a redesigned thermal system is intended to support up to 100W of performance. HP also says this marks a significant rise over the earlier ZBook Ultra G1a’s 55W thermal design power.
Display options are mixed across HP’s product pages and launch reporting. The company’s Indian specifications list a 16-inch WUXGA IPS panel with 400 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage, while the launch material highlighted a 16-inch 2.8K OLED option with a 120Hz refresh rate. The OLED panel is described as an optional configuration, which means buyers will need to choose it at purchase if they want the higher-resolution screen.
Other features include a 96Wh battery, optional 5G connectivity, and 140W or 180W GaN USB-C power adapters. HP also says the workstation includes an IT-replaceable keyboard and support for HP Wolf Security for Business on compatible configurations, reflecting the device’s enterprise focus.
In India, the HP ZBook Ultra G3a starts at Rs 2,89,990 before tax and is being sold through HP commercial channel partners. The final price will depend on the selected configuration, but the launch adds a new premium option for professionals who want workstation-class hardware with on-device AI capabilities.
