Huawei has expanded its MateBook Pro S lineup with new Privacy Display editions featuring advanced side-angle viewing protection, high-end specifications, and exceptional portability, positioning itself as a key player in secure, portable laptops.
Huawei has opened sales of the MateBook Pro S Privacy Display editions in its VMall store, extending availability beyond the standard and PaperMatte models that went on sale on 14 August. The privacy-focused versions are positioned as the flagship variants in the line-up, with Huawei offering three configurations: 24GB plus 512GB for 10,299 yuan, 24GB plus 1TB for 11,799 yuan, and a Collector’s Edition with 32GB plus 1TB for 14,999 yuan, according to the company’s retail listing and subsequent product round-ups.
The laptop’s main selling point is its Privacy Display system, which is designed to keep content visible to the user while making side-angle viewing much harder. Tech publications describing the device say Huawei uses a dual-pixel approach that combines privacy and shared viewing modes without the sharp loss in image quality that some alternative privacy-screen methods can cause.
The MateBook Pro S itself is notable for extreme portability. Huawei says the magnesium-lithium alloy chassis keeps the standard and Privacy Display editions at 798 grams, while the PaperMatte and Collector’s models are slightly heavier at about 825 grams. Coverage of the launch also says the 14.2-inch flexible OLED panel delivers 3.1K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits of brightness, with the device measuring just 11.9mm thick.
Under the hood, the laptop uses Huawei’s Kirin XE90 chipset, which the company says improves single-core performance by 23%, NPU performance by 40% and energy efficiency by 25%. Huawei also highlights a redesigned cooling system with a 3mm diamond-coated aluminium fan and a copper-steel composite vapour chamber, alongside a 54Wh battery with a high-silicon anode intended to raise energy density. Secondary reports add support details such as 66W charging, multiple microphones and speakers, a fingerprint sensor and wireless connectivity options including Wi-Fi 7.
