Insta360 has launched the Luna Pro, a handheld gimbal camera designed for content creators, featuring 8K recording, advanced stabilisation, and personalised cinematic filters, heralding a new hybrid of professional quality and portability.
Insta360 has introduced the Luna Pro, a handheld gimbal camera aimed squarely at creators who film for short-form platforms. According to Canaltech and Android Authority, the device combines an integrated stabilised body with a 1-inch sensor, 8K recording and 4K vertical capture without sacrificing resolution, a point that sets it apart from many competing vlogging cameras.
The company says the Luna Pro is built around a Sony sensor and a Leica Summicron F1.8 lens. It offers up to 14 stops of dynamic range, 10-bit Log recording and Dolby Vision support, while zoom is rated at up to 4x, with the first 2x described as lossless and the rest handled through AI processing, Android Authority reported. Leica colour presets and cinematic filters are also included for users who want more control over the final look.
Stabilisation comes from a three-axis gimbal, with AI tracking designed to keep a subject centred during movement. Canaltech also reported portrait tools that detect facial and skin details in real time, allowing separate adjustment of smoothing and brightness. TechRadar’s coverage of the Luna line notes a detachable OLED touchscreen and modular operation as part of the appeal for vloggers, especially those looking for a more flexible alternative to DJI’s Osmo Pocket range.
The hardware package also includes a removable touchscreen remote that can control the camera from up to 20 metres away, alongside a built-in wireless microphone. Insta360 says the battery is rated at 1,550mAh and can last up to four hours, with fast charging to 80% in 23 minutes. Internal storage is listed at 47GB. For now, the Luna Pro is on sale only in China, where it is priced at CNY 3,399, or about R$2,600, and no international launch date has been announced.
