Lenovo’s latest IdeaPad Slim 5 offers a premium OLED display, Intel’s 10-core Core 7 processor, and 24GB of RAM in a portable 14-inch chassis, appealing to office and media users despite some connectivity compromises.
Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 5 range is positioned as a mid-to-upper tier line for office work and media use, and a current offer from Notebooksbilliger.de places the 14-inch IdeaPad Slim 5 14IRH10R 83J00072GE at €799. The German retailer’s listing and Lenovo’s own specifications point to a compact Windows 11 Home machine built around Intel’s Core 7 240H, with 24GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.
The processor is a 10-core chip with six performance cores and four efficiency cores, giving the system enough headroom for everyday productivity, web use and streaming. Lenovo’s specification sheet also shows a WUXGA OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, 400 nits of brightness and full DCI-P3 colour coverage, which should make it well suited to text work as well as video playback. The glossy display is paired with short response times and the deep blacks typical of OLED technology.
There are, however, some practical compromises. Lenovo has fitted only one memory module, so the 24GB configuration runs in single-channel mode, which can limit memory bandwidth. The system does include two storage slots, and the second accepts standard 2280-format SSDs, giving buyers an upgrade path beyond the bundled PCIe 4.0 M.2 2242 drive. Connectivity is respectable but not class-leading: the notebook offers WiFi 7, a backlit keyboard and two USB-A plus two USB-C ports, all of them limited to USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds. The USB-C ports do support power delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode, but there is no USB4 or faster USB 3.2 Gen 2 option.
The overall package suggests a well-equipped compact laptop that prioritises screen quality and core usability over high-end port selection.
