Lenovo’s LOQ 15 offers credible 1080p gaming with a compelling display and solid performance, but makes trade-offs in thermals, storage, and upgrade potential for budget-conscious gamers seeking value.
Budget gaming laptops often succeed by making clear compromises, and Lenovo’s LOQ 15 is a strong example of that approach. Reviewers have generally found that its appeal lies in delivering credible 1080p gaming without drifting into premium pricing, while accepting limits in thermals, battery life and upgrade flexibility. Geeky Gadgets said the machine is aimed at buyers who want a practical balance rather than a luxury build, and other reviews broadly agree that its value is strongest when judged against what it can do at Full HD rather than against more expensive RTX 5060 machines.
The display is one of its most convincing assets. Lenovo equips the LOQ 15 with a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS panel at 144Hz, and Geeky Gadgets said the screen’s near-full DCI-P3 coverage gives it more colour depth than many laptops in this price band. That makes it useful beyond gaming, including basic photo work and general content creation. Lenovo’s own specifications for the current LOQ 15IRX10 list a 144Hz FHD IPS panel with 100% sRGB coverage, which suggests some regional or configuration variation, but the overall picture remains the same: this is a display tuned for smooth gameplay and broadly accurate colour.
Performance is built around Intel’s Core i7 HX-class processor and Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, a combination that has proved well suited to modern Full HD gaming. Geeky Gadgets reported a Core i7-13658 with an RTX 5060 running at a reduced 65W graphics limit, while Lenovo’s product page for a related LOQ 15 model lists a 13th-generation Core i7-13650HX and the same GPU with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. Benchmarks cited in the review, including a Geekbench 7 single-core score of 2,227, a multi-core score of 12,211 and a 3DMark Time Spy result of 9,461, indicate solid everyday capability. Notebookcheck also found the RTX 5060 strong enough for smooth Full HD play in most games.
Where Lenovo has clearly cut costs is in support hardware. Tom’s Hardware said the LOQ 15’s 512GB SSD is tight for a gaming system, and Notebookcheck and FinalBoss.io both noted that memory and storage choices limit the machine’s headroom, with single-channel 16GB DDR5 in some configurations and only modest upgrade room in others. Geeky Gadgets added that the SSD compatibility is restricted to 2242-form-factor drives, which narrows replacement options. These constraints matter because modern game libraries are large, and a 512GB boot drive can fill quickly once operating system files and a few major titles are installed.
Thermals and mobility are the other main trade-offs. Geeky Gadgets described a single-fan cooling design that can struggle during sustained loads, while Notebookcheck warned that the lack of a vapour chamber may contribute to CPU spikes and stuttering under pressure.
