Motorola has launched the Moto G Max in India, featuring a massive 7,000mAh battery, a 120Hz display, and the latest Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform, aiming to redefine mid-range rugged smartphones.
Motorola has added a new large-battery handset to its India line-up with the Moto G Max, a mid-range model built around a 7,000mAh battery, a 120Hz display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform. The company is pitching it as a practical all-day phone with current software, tougher-than-average build protection and a camera system led by a 50-megapixel Sony sensor.
The G Max uses a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD panel with a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution and peak brightness rated at 1,050 nits in high-brightness mode. Motorola has also fitted its Water Touch feature, which is designed to keep the screen responsive when wet, while Corning Gorilla Glass 7i provides front protection. The handset is further rated IP64 and meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards, placing it among the more ruggedly specified phones in its price band.
Inside, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 4nm chip with an octa-core CPU and Adreno graphics. Motorola pairs it with 6GB of LPDDR5X memory and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, plus RAM Boost support that borrows from internal storage when additional memory is needed. On the software side, the phone ships with Android 16 and includes Google Gemini features, Motorola’s Moto Secure and ThinkShield tools, and Google Photos AI editing functions such as Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur.
Camera hardware consists of a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and Quad Pixel support, alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 118-degree field of view. Motorola lists a 32-megapixel front camera in promotional material, although the detailed specifications also refer to an 8-megapixel unit, leaving some ambiguity in the launch information. The phone also includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, dual microphones and a 3.5mm headphone socket.
The headline feature is the silicon-carbon battery, which Motorola says is intended to deliver higher energy density without forcing a bulkier chassis. Charging support is listed at 30W in the specifications, though the launch material also mentions 33W wired charging. The company says the battery is rated for up to 1,000 charge cycles. In India, the Moto G Max is priced at Rs. 27,999 for the 6GB/128GB version and will go on sale on August 20 via Flipkart, Motorola’s own store and offline retailers, with bank and exchange offers available at launch.
