MSI has unveiled refreshed Modern S series laptops in Japan, introducing two models with premium design, enhanced connectivity, and built-in AI capabilities aimed at office and remote work efficiency.
MSI has refreshed its Modern S business laptop line in Japan with two new models aimed at office work, remote meetings and light AI-assisted productivity. The 14-inch Modern 14S AI+ G3M and 16-inch Modern 16S AI+ G3M go on sale from 27 August through MSI’s official online shop, with prices starting at ¥254,800 and ¥259,800 respectively. MSI says both machines are built around Intel’s Core Ultra 7 355 processor and are intended for document creation, video calls and multitasking.
The new devices mark a design update for the Modern S series. MSI’s product pages describe slim aluminium alloy chassis on both models, with the 14-inch version finished in Urban Silver and the 16-inch model in Platinum Grey. The company is positioning the pair as portable business notebooks with a more restrained, premium appearance than a typical mainstream laptop.
Display hardware is broadly similar across the two sizes. Both models use WUXGA panels with a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and window movement feel smoother than on standard 60Hz office machines. MSI also lists a practical mix of ports, including USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI and wired LAN, along with support for USB Power Delivery, which makes the laptops easier to use in offices, meeting rooms and home set-ups without relying on adapters.
MSI also promotes the machines as Copilot+ PCs with built-in AI features for productivity and creative tasks. On its product pages, the company claims up to 16 hours of battery life for both models, though real-world endurance will depend on workload and screen settings. The 14-inch option will suit users who value mobility, while the 16-inch version is likely to appeal to those who want more screen space for spreadsheets, presentations and side-by-side app use.
