Oppo has launched its expanded A Series in Malaysia, emphasising exceptional battery capacity, rugged design, and long-term performance, with models offering up to 10,000mAh batteries and IP69K water resistance.
OPPO has expanded its A Series in Malaysia with two new mid-range phones that place unusual emphasis on battery size, toughness and long-term performance. The A7 Pro 5G starts at RM1,699, while the A7 Pro Max 5G is priced from RM2,499. According to OPPO’s local launch materials, both models are now on sale nationwide through official channels, with a first-sale promotion running until 31 October 2026.
The headline feature is endurance. The standard A7 Pro 5G carries an 8,000mAh battery, while the A7 Pro Max 5G steps up to 10,000mAh. OPPO says both batteries are designed to retain more than 80% of their capacity after years of use, with the standard model rated for up to 2,000 full charging cycles and the Max model for up to 1,500. The company also says both devices are covered by a six-year smoothness commitment, positioning them for buyers who want a handset that should remain usable well beyond a typical upgrade cycle.
Durability is another central theme. Both phones carry IP69K water and dust resistance, along with military-grade shock protection. Industry coverage of the launch notes that this level of ingress protection is among the highest seen in consumer smartphones, while OPPO says the design is meant to cope with demanding daily use. The A7 Pro Max 5G adds a curved camera housing and a multi-colour breathing light for notifications, while the standard model uses a more restrained finish.
On the display and imaging side, the two phones share a strong set of specifications for the class. The A7 Pro 5G uses a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the A7 Pro Max 5G gets a larger 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display rated at up to 1,800 nits peak brightness. Both feature a 50MP main rear camera and a 50MP ultra-wide AI Zoom selfie camera with a 100-degree field of view. Bernama reported that the front camera’s AI Auto Wide Angle Switch can adjust between portrait and group-shot framing automatically.
Performance and charging differ between the two models. The A7 Pro 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6360 MAX 5G chip, while the A7 Pro Max 5G uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform. OPPO also highlights vapour chamber cooling, its NetworkBoost Chip S1, and AI-assisted software features such as Portrait Glow and Remix Collage. The Max model supports 80W SUPERVOOC charging and, according to OPPO, can recharge fully in around 91 minutes.
For Malaysian buyers, the launch is less about outright luxury and more about a specific promise: large batteries, strong protection and features aimed at keeping the handset responsive for years. First-sale offers running through the end of October include instant rebates and bundle deals on OPPO accessories, giving the series a more aggressive entry point in the crowded mid-range market.
