POCO teases M8x with 6.9-inch LCD and Android 16 ahead of India launch

POCO is set to expand its M8 series with the M8x, featuring a 6.9-inch LCD, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, and Android 16, launching in India on 21 August below ₹20,000.

POCO is preparing to widen its M8 range with a new handset, the M8x, after introducing the M8 Power earlier this month. According to the teaser shared on Flipkart, the device will launch in India on 21 August and will be built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform. That positions it as a budget model with a focus on everyday performance rather than premium features.

Leaked specifications from Yogesh Brar suggest the phone will ship with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with support for microSD expansion. The same details point to a 6.9-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, a combination that should favour smooth scrolling over sharpness. The handset is also said to use a 6,000 mAh battery with 33 W charging.

Software is expected to be another notable part of the package. The M8x is tipped to run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box, which would make it one of the earlier entry-level phones to arrive with that software stack. Camera details have not been confirmed, although the promotional image appears to show a simple rear module with one main sensor and a second auxiliary cut-out, which would be consistent with a low-cost design.

Pricing has not been announced, but the phone is expected to come in below ₹20,000, keeping it in the lower mid-range segment. Whether POCO plans to sell the M8x outside India, including in markets such as Brazil, remains unclear.
