Poco launches the M8X 5G in India, offering a large 6.9-inch display, the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, and an enormous 7,900mAh battery at an accessible price point, transforming the budget smartphone landscape.
Poco’s M8X 5G arrives as a value-focused option in India’s crowded mid-range segment, with the company pairing a large 6.9-inch HD+ LCD screen, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset and a 7,900mAh battery. According to launch coverage from Gizmochina and Beebom, it is the first phone in India to use the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, with the base model priced at Rs 18,999 and sales beginning on 27 August 2026. In a market where component costs remain under pressure, that combination gives the phone a clear point of difference.
The display is the most obvious selling point. Poco has opted for a big 120Hz panel, and listings from Gizmochina and NoypiGeeks say it also carries Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and peaks at up to 825 nits of brightness. That does not make it a premium screen, but it does make the phone practical for streaming, social media and everyday use, especially for buyers who want size and smoothness rather than higher resolution.
Battery life is the second major advantage. Multiple reports confirm the 7,900mAh cell, which is unusually large even by modern budget-phone standards, and 45W wired charging should help keep downtime manageable. Gizmochina also notes 22.5W reverse wired charging, while TechPP’s review says the handset is built for long endurance rather than thinness. For buyers who prioritise two-day usage over a slimmer profile, that is a meaningful trade-off.
Performance and software complete the case for the M8X 5G. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is a 4nm chip, and TechPP says Poco combines it with Android 16, HyperOS 3, up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of expandable UFS 2.2 storage. The same review says Poco is promising four years of Android version updates and six years of security patches. The camera setup is modest by comparison, with a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP front camera, but that appears to be where Poco has trimmed costs to hold the price down.
