Poco is launching the M8x 5G in India with a massive 7,900mAh battery, aggressive fast charging, and a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 series chipset, aiming to redefine expectations for battery endurance in the segment.
Poco is preparing to widen its M8 range in India with the M8x 5G, a model scheduled to go on sale on 21 August at 12pm IST. Ahead of launch, the company has revealed most of the headline specifications on its microsite, pointing to a phone built around battery endurance, fast charging and a mid-range Qualcomm platform. According to Gadgets 360, the handset will arrive in at least a green finish and be sold through Flipkart.
The most prominent figure is the battery. Poco says the M8x 5G will carry a 7,900mAh cell, which it claims can last for up to three days in normal use. The company also quotes battery estimates of about 35 hours of social-media scrolling, 27 days of messaging, 13 hours of GPS navigation and 64 hours of music playback. That capacity is unusually large for this segment and would place the device closer to some of the biggest-battery rivals in the market.
Charging support is equally aggressive. Poco says the phone will support 45W wired charging, with 30 minutes on the charger delivering enough power for a full day’s use. It will also support 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the handset to act as a power bank for other devices. The company has not yet disclosed whether the charger will be bundled in the box.
Beyond power management, Poco has confirmed an octa-core Snapdragon 4 series chipset built on a 4nm process, 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The company claims the chip can launch apps 43% faster and that the phone has scored more than 650,000 points on AnTuTu. Thermal control will rely on a triple cooling arrangement combining graphite, copper foil and thermal gel. Pricing, storage variants and the full camera specification are still to be announced.
