Qualcomm and Samsung are deepening a partnership that has already made Snapdragon silicon a fixture across the Galaxy range, with the latest tie-up extending to new foldable phones, watches and even smart eyewear, according to a Qualcomm announcement and a report from Overbr. The companies said the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy will power Samsung’s newest premium smartphones, while Snapdragon Wear Elite is set to underpin the next wave of Galaxy wearables.
The move underlines how central on-device artificial intelligence has become to Samsung’s product strategy. Qualcomm said the latest mobile platform brings its fastest handset CPU, an advanced graphics processor and a next-generation neural processing unit, all aimed at making Galaxy AI features more responsive and more context-aware. In practical terms, that means faster processing for tasks such as camera functions, gaming and other AI-driven tools without leaning so heavily on cloud connectivity.
For wearables, Qualcomm said Snapdragon Wear Elite is its first smartwatch platform designed specifically around personal AI, with sensor fusion intended to make watches more proactive and personalised. Overbr reported that Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 will use the chip, while the global rollout also includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8, with Snapdragon power for the Galaxy Z Flip8 in selected regions.
Cristiano Amon, Qualcomm’s president and chief executive, said in the company’s announcement that the two groups were entering a new phase in which intelligence is built into the devices people use throughout the day. He said the collaboration reflects almost 30 years of joint work between the companies and is helping shape the next generation of mobile experiences. Qualcomm has repeatedly positioned Snapdragon as the engine of premium Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Z Fold7, as Samsung continues to pair foldable hardware with increasingly ambitious AI features.
