The recently launched Realme 16T 5G in the mid-range segment emphasises endurance and rugged design, but trails the 15T 5G in display clarity and camera quality, highlighting a shift in consumer priorities.
realme’s new 16T 5G enters the mid-range segment with a clear selling point: a larger battery and a bigger display. But on paper, the earlier 15T 5G still looks like the more balanced device. The comparison published by ManilaShaker shows two phones aimed at different priorities, with the 16T leaning towards endurance and screen size, while the 15T focuses on sharper imaging, a better panel and lighter handling.
The design trade-off is straightforward. realme’s official specifications for the 15T 5G list a body measuring 158.36mm by 75.19mm and weighing about 181g to 183g, depending on the variant, with AGC DT-Star D+ glass protection and IP66, IP68 and IP69 resistance. The 16T 5G is substantially larger and heavier at 166.4mm by 78.2mm and 224g, but realme says it adds IP69K certification on top of the other ingress protection ratings and uses Panda-1681 Glass. In practical terms, the newer handset should offer tougher protection, while the older model is easier to carry and use one-handed.
The display story is mixed in a similar way. According to realme, the 15T 5G uses a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with a 1080 × 2372 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness rating of 4,000 nits. ManilaShaker says the 16T 5G responds with a larger 6.83-inch LCD, a lower 1570 × 720 resolution and a faster 144Hz refresh rate, with 1,200 nits HBM brightness. That means the 16T is the smoother and bigger device, but the 15T should deliver the more detailed and colourful image.
Cameras also tilt in favour of the 15T 5G. realme lists a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 50-megapixel front camera on the older phone, both capable of 1080p video at 60fps. ManilaShaker says the 16T 5G keeps a 50-megapixel main camera, adds a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor and drops the selfie camera to 16 megapixels, with front video limited to 1080p at 30fps. The newer phone adds a selfie mirror feature, but the older model is still the stronger choice for self-portraits and front-camera video.
Performance and battery life present the clearest split. realme says the 15T 5G is powered by the Dimensity 6400 Max, with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while ManilaShaker reports the 16T 5G uses the Dimensity 6300 with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 15T also ships with realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15, while the 16T runs realme UI 7.0. On battery, realme specifies a 7,000mAh pack with 60W charging for the 15T, whereas ManilaShaker says the 16T increases capacity to 8,000mAh but steps down to 45W charging. Price reinforces the split: the 15T starts lower than the 16T in the Philippine market, which makes it the better-value option for most buyers, while the newer model is chiefly about battery capacity and a few durability upgrades.
