Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 has experienced a steep price reduction in Brazil, offering consumers a high-end Wear OS smartwatch with advanced fitness features at a significantly lower cost, heralding greater affordability for premium health-focused devices.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 has dropped sharply in price in Brazil, with Magazine Luiza listing the 40 mm Bluetooth model at R$1,249 when paid via Pix and the INFLU100 coupon. That is a 58% reduction from the launch price of R$2,999, making it a far more accessible entry point for buyers who want a premium Wear OS smartwatch rather than a basic fitness band.
The watch centres on fitness tracking, with Samsung positioning its personalised Running Coach as one of its key differentiators. According to Samsung’s support material, the feature assesses a runner’s ability and then builds a tailored plan after a running-level test, while the company’s global newsroom says it can support distances from 5K to half marathon. During a run, it can show split pace, heart rate and left-right balance, then produce a scored post-run report to help users track progress.
Hardware remains a major part of the appeal. Independent listings and reviews describe a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display protected by sapphire glass, with peak brightness rated at up to 3,000 nits. The watch uses Samsung’s Exynos W1000 chip, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and it runs Wear OS with support for Google apps and services. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and multiband GPS.
Samsung also includes health and safety tools beyond running. The watch supports ECG, sleep tracking and blood oxygen monitoring, while the company says emergency calling functions can be used when the watch is paired with a phone. The aluminium body carries IP68 protection, MIL-STD-810H certification and 5 ATM water resistance, which makes it suitable for daily wear and some water-based activities. Battery life is still modest at about one day, but the lower price makes the trade-off easier to justify for buyers who value the feature set.
