Samsung hikes prices on budget Galaxy phones in India amid rising component costs

Samsung has quietly increased prices across several low-cost Galaxy models in India, marking a sustained trend driven by rising hardware costs, despite promotional efforts to mitigate the impact on consumers.

Samsung has quietly pushed up prices on a range of its low-cost Galaxy handsets in India as higher hardware costs continue to ripple through the smartphone market. According to local reports, the latest changes affect entry-level models across the Galaxy A, Galaxy F and Galaxy M families, including both 4G and 5G variants, with the sharpest pressure falling on phones built around the 06, 07 and 17 series.

Industry trackers say this is not an isolated move. Gizmochina reported in May that Samsung had already raised prices on several budget and mid-range Galaxy phones in India, pointing to mounting memory and storage costs as a key factor. SamMobile later reported that the company had lifted prices across multiple models for several consecutive months, underscoring how quickly affordability has weakened in one of Samsung’s most important growth markets.

The latest increase appears to have pushed the highest-spec Galaxy A17 5G above ₹30,000, or about $315, according to the Zoomit report. Other publications, including Gadgets 360, said some revisions took effect on July 4 and affected models such as the Galaxy A06 5G, A07 4G, A07 5G, A17 5G, F07 4G, F17 5G and M07 4G, with rises of up to ₹1,000. SamMobile also reported that Samsung had marked one of the price rounds as its sixth increase of 2026, reflecting a broader pattern rather than a one-off adjustment.

Samsung is trying to soften the impact with promotions. The company is offering up to 10% cashback with selected bank cards, a ₹2,000 discount for first-time buyers on its India website or app and trade-in options for older phones, according to the Zoomit report. Even so, the repeated price increases show how vulnerable the budget segment is when component costs rise, especially for buyers who have little room to absorb higher prices.
