Samsung launches eighth-generation foldables with record pre-orders and new colourways

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Flip8, Z Fold8, and Z Fold8 Ultra go on sale globally, marking the eighth iteration of its foldable line with significant pre-order growth and exclusive online colours.

Samsung’s new foldables go on sale globally on Thursday, with the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 reaching 106 markets through carriers, retailers, Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung’s website. The launch marks the eighth generation of the company’s foldable line and follows a pre-order period that Samsung said ran ahead of last year’s Z7 series by 30% worldwide.

According to Samsung’s U.S. and global announcements, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99, the Z Fold8 at $1,899.99 and the Z Flip8 at $1,199.99. The company is also offering trade-in deals on its website, alongside exclusive online colourways such as Violet Shadow, Green Shadow, Lavender, Pistachio, Pink and Mint.

Samsung said each foldable includes a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which comes with 5TB of cloud storage and is valued at $120. In the same 106 markets, the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 also go on sale on Thursday, each bundled with a 60-day Strava trial and a two-month iFIT trial.

The company has highlighted strong demand across regions, saying pre-orders were up 20% in Europe and set a record in South Korea, while India also saw a sharp rise compared with the previous generation. It also said Graphite was the most popular finish for the Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra, while Pink led for the Z Flip8. Among customers aged 15 to 34 buying from Samsung’s own website, Pistachio, Green Shadow and Mint proved especially popular.
