Samsung's Galaxy S26 FE puts AI innovation at the heart of flagship features with extended support

Samsung unveils the Galaxy S26 FE, integrating AI-driven camera tools and seven years of security updates, targeting users seeking flagship features at a mid-range price point and prioritising software longevity.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S26 FE places artificial intelligence at the centre of an everyday smartphone package, combining camera upgrades, on-device AI tools and long-term software support in a handset aimed at users who want flagship-style features without the full premium price. The device was shown to Ecuadorian journalists during a hands-on session organised by Samsung in Ecuador, where the company positioned it as the first model in the Galaxy S26 range to arrive with One UI 9.0.

Photography is one of the main selling points. According to Samsung’s launch material and reporting by SamMobile, the phone uses a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, alongside a 12-megapixel front camera. The company says the system is designed not just for still images, but also for content creation, with tools that automate parts of the editing and framing process.

Among those tools is My FanCam, which tracks a selected subject and keeps them centred in the frame as they move. Samsung also includes Super Steady with Horizontal Lock for smoother, more level video, while Nightography is intended to improve results in low light. After capture, Photo Assist allows users to make changes through natural-language prompts, such as adjusting light, adding elements or restoring parts of an image. The result is a more automated workflow for people who publish directly from their phones.

Beyond the camera, One UI 9.0 brings a wider set of Galaxy AI features designed to cut down steps in routine tasks. Samsung says Now Brief offers customisable summary cards, while Now Nudge can suggest actions based on context. The handset also supports Google’s Circle to Search, which can identify multiple items within a single image with one query. For media consumption and daily use, the Galaxy S26 FE has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging, according to Samsung and coverage from SamMobile and Livemint.

Software support is another notable part of the package. SamMobile reported that the Galaxy S26 FE comes with seven major Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, a longer promise than the wider Galaxy S26 series. That commitment reflects a broader shift in smartphone buying, where buyers increasingly weigh lifecycle, security and feature longevity alongside camera quality and battery life.
