Samsung launches its latest Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 in Brazil, featuring bigger batteries, a new Qualcomm chip, and expanded health tracking tools targeted at fitness enthusiasts and outdoor users.
Samsung has brought its latest smartwatches to Brazil, unveiling the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with bigger batteries, a new Qualcomm chip and expanded health tracking tools. The launch, reported by Canaltech, comes as Samsung continues to push wearables further into fitness, outdoor use and AI-assisted functions.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is the headline device. It keeps a 47mm titanium case but is 12% slimmer than the previous version, according to Gizmochina, while its 1.52-inch display now reaches 5,000 nits of peak brightness. The battery has grown to 800mAh, a 35% increase, and Samsung is positioning the watch for endurance athletes and outdoor users with trail-running and diving features. TechRadar said the updated bands are lighter and more secure, while Samsung also highlights dual-band GPS and tougher water and dust protection.
The mainstream Galaxy Watch 9 is aimed at everyday users and comes in 40mm and 44mm aluminium versions. Canaltech reported that Samsung has kept the familiar design but paired it with a lighter, more flexible strap and a brighter screen that peaks at 3,000 nits. Battery capacity rises to 390mAh on the smaller model, with the larger version getting a 445mAh cell, according to coverage from Android Central and Gizmochina.
Both watches run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite, a 3nm chip that Samsung says improves speed, AI performance and sensor accuracy. SamMobile reported that the platform brings faster CPU and graphics performance, along with LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC. The watches also run Wear OS 7 with Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch overlay.
Health features are also central to the new line-up. Canaltech said both devices add Vital Signs, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load and Fitness Index tools, all designed to compare the wearer’s readings with their own baseline and broader age-based patterns. Samsung is also promoting a “Raise to Talk” shortcut for Google Gemini, allowing users to trigger voice commands by lifting their wrist, while the Ultra 2 adds trail and dive modes for more specialised activities.
Samsung has not yet detailed every configuration for the Brazilian market, but Canaltech said pricing starts at R$ 2,999 for the Galaxy Watch 9 Wi-Fi model and rises to R$ 4,999 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with LTE. The new watches go on sale in Brazil on Thursday, August 6.
