Tecno has unveiled the Megapad SE 2, an entry-level tablet featuring a 2K display, 4G LTE connectivity, and up to 8GB RAM, marking its expansion into the affordable segment in Southeast Asia.
TECNO has expanded its tablet line-up with the Megapad SE 2, an entry-level model that has first gone on sale in the Philippines. The device sits below the earlier Megapad 2 and is positioned as a cheaper option for everyday use, with 4G LTE connectivity built in so it can operate on mobile data without relying on Wi-Fi. TECNO’s own product page lists the tablet in Deep Gray, Sandy Titanium and Iris Purple. According to the company, an Indonesia release is also being prepared, following the appearance of the model in local certification databases.
The Megapad SE 2 centres on a 9.7-inch 2K display with a resolution of 2,048 by 1,280 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. TECNO says the panel carries TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification and can reach a peak brightness of 550 nits. That specification makes it more capable than many basic tablets in the same price band, particularly for reading, video and general media use.
Inside, the tablet uses MediaTek’s Helio G88, an octa-core chip that is firmly aimed at the affordable end of the market. TECNO lists configurations with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while other catalogues note a 4GB option as well. Storage can be expanded through microSD, with support for cards up to 2TB. The device also includes an 8-megapixel camera on both the front and rear, plus dual speakers.
Battery capacity is set at 7,000mAh, with 18W wired charging. TECNO says the tablet measures 7.9mm thick and weighs about 387g, which should keep it manageable for a small-screen Android tablet. The company’s specifications also confirm 4G LTE support through a SIM slot, making the device more flexible for students, commuters and anyone who needs connectivity away from home.
Pricing in the Philippines starts at PHP 13,499, roughly Rp3.8 million. In Indonesia, technology outlets have reported that TECNO is preparing the Megapad SE 2 alongside other new devices, although no local launch date has been announced. The tablet therefore appears to be heading for a broader regional roll-out, with the Indonesian market likely to be the next stop.
