Tecno’s Camon Slim 5G disrupts the midrange market with fashion-forward launch and ultra-slim design

Tecno unveils the ultra-thin Camon Slim 5G with a fashion-inspired campaign in the Philippines, highlighting its design as much as its hardware, and targeting upper-midrange consumers.

TECNO has launched the Camon Slim 5G in the Philippines, pairing an unusually thin 6.39mm body with a 6,000mAh battery and a starting price of ₱24,999. The company chose to unveil the device through a fashion-led production called “The Living Cover Runway”, rather than a conventional product briefing, and used the event to frame the handset as a design object as much as a piece of consumer electronics.

The launch placed particular emphasis on Filipino women across business, the arts, content creation and motherhood, with names including Megan Young, Aubrey Miles, Max Collins, Carlyn Ocampo and Fuschia Anne Ravena. According to TECNO’s presentation, the campaign was intended to reflect the idea of lightening everyday burdens, while the runway styling drew on modern Filipiniana silhouettes and the phone’s Burgundy Red finish. The company also said it is preparing a documentary collaboration with photographer Angélica Dass focused on the Filipino idea of diskarte and on solo mothers, with more detail expected later in October.

Beneath the marketing, the hardware is notable for its unusual packaging of capacity and thickness. Reports from Pinoy Metro Geek, Pinoy Tech Guide and The Philippine Star say the Camon Slim 5G uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300e 5G chipset, a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and 8GB of RAM with up to 16GB of extended memory. The camera system centres on a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with optical image stabilisation, supported by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with autofocus and a 32-megapixel front camera. Android Central also reported that the phone includes features such as wet-touch support, durability certifications, and AI tools aimed at productivity and photography.

TECNO is selling the 8GB + 128GB model exclusively through TikTok Shop for ₱24,999, while the 8GB + 256GB version costs ₱27,999 and is available through Shopee, Lazada and physical concept stores, according to the company and local technology outlets. The device will come in Burgundy Red, Matisse Black and Rebel Pink at launch, with 3D White due later. In practical terms, the Camon Slim 5G is aimed squarely at the upper-midrange market, where buyers tend to weigh design, battery life and camera performance against rivals from brands such as vivo, realme and Samsung.
