Unistellar launches innovative smart binoculars and telescopes designed to bring advanced skywatching and landscape exploration to urban users, combining precision optics with digital assistance for heightened ease and engagement.
Unistellar is positioning its latest gift range around a simple idea: combine precision optics with digital assistance. The company is offering two distinct products for the festive season, the ENVISION smart binoculars and the Odyssey line of smart telescopes, each aimed at making skywatching and landscape exploration easier for non-specialists as well as enthusiasts.
According to Unistellar’s product information, ENVISION uses GPS, inertial sensors and Bluetooth to anchor augmented-reality overlays to the user’s field of view. The binoculars can display contextual details about landmarks and celestial objects, and the system draws on a database containing billions of topographic nodes and millions of astronomical objects. Five modes are available, including Smart Scouting, Guided Navigation and Shareable Target-Lock, while an optical-only mode switches off the digital layer for conventional viewing.
The company says the binoculars are built around a high-brightness micro-screen and are designed to work even without an internet connection once the relevant data are loaded. Unistellar also lists a battery life of about five hours per charge. In Europe, the price is set at €1,500, while the US pre-order price is given as $1,499, with deliveries expected before the end of November 2026 on the company’s site.
Odyssey is aimed at a different audience: users who want astrophotography and automatic pointing rather than binocular-style exploration. Unistellar says the telescope can identify more than 5,000 targets and uses computerised pointing, image processing and its Deep Dark Technology to reduce the impact of light pollution. The line also includes Nikon High Precision Optics, and the Pro version adds Nikon Eyepiece Technology. The standard Odyssey is listed at $2,599 on Unistellar’s site, while Odyssey Pro is priced at $4,599.
The company’s materials frame the range as a way to bring astronomy closer to urban users, where light pollution often limits visibility. That is also the main technical promise behind Odyssey’s software stack: to automate alignment, improve image clarity and make objects such as galaxies, nebulae and planets easier to observe from back gardens and city balconies. For buyers weighing premium holiday gadgets, the appeal is less novelty than convenience, with the trade-off being a high entry price and a strong reliance on proprietary hardware and software.
