Viltrox introduces silver finishes to its compact Air-series AF primes for Fujifilm X-mount

Viltrox expands its Air-series with new silver versions of three autofocus prime lenses for Fujifilm X-mount, aligning aesthetics with Fujifilm’s ecosystem and offering affordable options for photographers seeking colour-matched gear.

Viltrox has added silver finishes to three of its compact Air-series autofocus primes for Fujifilm X-mount, extending a line that already targeted photographers who wanted small, affordable lenses for APS-C bodies. The new versions are the AF 9mm F2.8 Air Silver, AF 15mm F1.7 Air Silver and AF 25mm F1.7 Air Silver. According to Daily Camera News, the optics are unchanged from the black models, but the new colourway is meant to sit more naturally with silver-bodied Fujifilm cameras such as the X-T5 and X-E5.

The move reflects a broader pattern in Fujifilm’s ecosystem, where first-party XF lenses often appear in silver but many lower-cost third-party options do not. Viltrox has already used the Air series to offer lightweight, travel-friendly glass at accessible prices, and the company has been expanding that concept with Fuji-friendly styling. Earlier releases from the brand also added silver versions of the AF 35mm F1.7 Air and AF 56mm F1.7 Air for X-mount, showing that the finish is becoming part of the product strategy rather than a one-off variant.

On paper, the three lenses cover distinct everyday roles. The AF 9mm F2.8 is the ultra-wide option, while the AF 15mm F1.7 and AF 25mm F1.7 provide brighter apertures for low light and shallower depth of field. Gizmochina reported that the original AF 9mm F2.8 Air weighs 175g and offers a 0.13m minimum focus distance, underlining the series’ emphasis on portability. Daily Camera News lists the new silver trio at £190, £229 and £165 respectively, putting the complete set at under £600 and positioning it as a cheaper alternative to Fujifilm’s own primes.
