Vivo prepares to launch the Y31T in India, featuring a massive 7,200mAh battery and water-resistant design, signalling a focus on endurance over camera quality amid rising mid-range competition.
Vivo’s next budget handset for India appears to be close to launch, with a detailed leak outlining the Y31T’s specifications before any official announcement. According to the information shared by tipster Sanju Chaudhary via XpertPick, the phone looks set to be a modest refinement of the Vivo Y31, rather than a major redesign. The earlier Y31 reached India in September 2025 with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip, a 6,500mAh battery and dual IP68/IP69 protection, so the new model seems aimed at extending that formula with a larger battery and a slightly bigger screen.
The Y31T is said to feature a 6.75-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution and peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits in High Brightness Mode. That is a small increase over the Y31’s 6.68-inch display, but the resolution remains the same, which means sharpness will still lag behind Full HD+ rivals in the same price class. The leaked hardware list also points to the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform, paired with UFS 2.2 storage and configurations of 4GB or 6GB of RAM, with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. In practical terms, the 6GB variants should age better for multitasking, particularly as Android and Vivo’s Funtouch software will already take a fair share of memory on the 4GB model.
Battery life is where the Y31T is expected to stand out. The leak suggests a 7,200mAh cell, a clear step up from the Y31’s 6,500mAh unit and well above the 5,000mAh batteries still common in this segment. Charging is said to remain at 44W wired, which is respectable but not exceptional, especially as some competing models now offer faster top-ups. The camera setup appears restrained, with a 50MP main sensor joined by a 2MP secondary unit at the rear and an 8MP front camera. That makes it a specification-led, utility-focused handset rather than one built for photography.
Durability may be another selling point, with IP66 and IP68 protection reported alongside a body thickness of 8.39mm. Colour options are said to include Crimson Red, Gold Mist and Seashore Green. GSMArena has reported that the phone is likely to be priced around INR 26,999, which would place it in a crowded and increasingly expensive bracket in India’s mid-range market. If that figure proves accurate, the Y31T’s appeal will depend heavily on whether buyers value endurance and water resistance more than display quality or camera performance.
