Xiaomi introduces the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max in China, featuring Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips, ultra-bright AMOLED panels, and cutting-edge gaming and photography capabilities, signalling a new flagship push for its Redmi series.
Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max in China, adding two high-end models to its Redmi line with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips, 185Hz AMOLED panels and very large batteries. The launch confirms many of the details that had circulated in advance, but it also sharpens the split between the two phones: the Pro is the smaller, slightly lighter model, while the Pro Max is positioned as the more fully featured version with extra display and audio hardware.
According to Xiaomi’s launch details, the K100 Pro uses a 6.59-inch 1.5K display, while the K100 Pro Max steps up to 6.9 inches, with both panels supporting 12-bit colour, 4,800Hz instant touch sampling, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Xiaomi says the phones can reach 4,500 nits of peak brightness, with a 10,000-nit figure for a small 1% window, and it is promising broader BT.2020 colour management through a software update due in mid to late November. The company also says the new M11 luminescent material was developed with Tsinghua University and improves green sub-pixel efficiency and overall panel efficiency.
The Pro Max goes further on gaming and graphics. Xiaomi says it includes a dedicated D2 graphics chip, while both devices rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory with UFS 4.1 storage. The company is also highlighting cooling systems of different sizes, with a larger vapour chamber in the Pro Max, and it claims the handset can sustain more than 185 frames per second in CrossFire: Mobile in an ultra-high-definition mode. That sits alongside support for native 185fps gaming in more than 30 titles, according to Xiaomi.
Photography is another area where the two models diverge. Both phones use a 200-megapixel main camera and a 32-megapixel front camera, but the Pro pairs that sensor with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel 2.5x periscope telephoto unit, while the Pro Max uses a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel 5x periscope lens. Earlier leak reports had pointed to a similar high-end camera configuration, large batteries in the 9,000mAh class and 100W charging, and Xiaomi’s final specification sheet broadly matches that direction. The company says the K100 Pro carries an 8,580mAh battery and the Pro Max has a 9,070mAh pack, with both supporting 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and reverse charging.
Pricing starts at 3,999 yuan for the Redmi K100 Pro and 4,499 yuan for the Redmi K100 Pro Max in China, with the top Pro Max variant priced at 5,999 yuan. Xiaomi has not said when, or whether, the phones will be sold outside China. The company also points to IP69 protection, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and HyperOS 3 as part of the wider package, while Bose-tuned speakers and a subwoofer-equipped audio system on the Pro Max underline how aggressively Xiaomi is pushing the series as a showcase for its latest hardware.
