Xiaomi has launched the slim and powerful Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro in the Philippines, focusing on AI-driven multitasking and lightweight design for students and creators amid increasing demand for versatile Android alternatives.
Xiaomi has reintroduced the Pad 8 series in the Philippines, positioning the tablets as slim Android alternatives for students, creators and remote workers who want laptop-style features without a full notebook. The line-up includes the standard Pad 8 and the higher-end Pad 8 Pro, both built around an 11.2-inch 3.2K display with a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 800 nits of brightness and Dolby Vision support, according to Xiaomi Philippines and local launch coverage.
The design is unusually thin for this class of device. Xiaomi says both tablets measure 5.75mm and weigh 485g, with metal unibody construction and colour options that include Gray, Blue and Pine Green on the standard model. Manila Bulletin reported that the Pad 8 Pro also has an optional Matte Glass version intended to reduce glare and improve stylus work, which is a useful detail for readers who plan to write or draw on the display.
Performance separates the two models. Xiaomi Philippines lists the Pad 8 with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, alongside a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The Pad 8 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with a 50MP rear camera and 32MP front camera, as reported by Technobaboy and other local outlets. Both tablets carry a 9,200mAh battery, but charging differs: 45W on the Pad 8 and 67W on the Pro.
Xiaomi is also leaning heavily on software and accessories to justify the higher pricing. The tablets run HyperOS 3 with Xiaomi HyperAI, which adds multitasking tools, split-screen layouts and system-level AI functions such as document summaries and file management features, according to TechBeatph and Xiaomi’s product pages. The company is bundling the Focus Keyboard with the entry model and the Pad 8 Pro bundle, while the Focus Pen Pro supports 16,384 pressure levels and magnetic wireless charging. In the Philippines, the Pad 8 is priced at ₱29,999 and the Pad 8 Pro at ₱38,999, with availability through Xiaomi’s online shop, Shopee, Lazada and authorised stores.
