ZTE introduces the U15S in Malaysia, a versatile device combining a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, 10,000mAh power bank, and extensive global roaming support, appealing to frequent travellers seeking an all-in-one travel companion.
ZTE has brought the U15S to Malaysia at RM299, positioning the device as a compact travel tool that combines a mobile hotspot, a 10,000mAh power bank and global roaming support in one unit. TechNave reported that the grey model is already being promoted locally, while ZTE’s Malaysian site says the product is sold through its official online channels, including Shopee, Lazada and TikTok.
The U15S is built around a ZTE V3E-A53 dual-core chip and uses Wi-Fi 6 with OFDMA-based bandwidth allocation, which is intended to keep shared connections more stable when several people are online at once. According to Lowyat.net, the device can handle up to 32 connected devices in hotspot mode, although the China launch report from Gizmochina described a lower device limit on the earlier market version. That suggests the Malaysian variant is being sold with broader local network support and a more travel-focused configuration.
ZTE says the unit can switch between Pocket Wi-Fi, Power Bank and Airplane modes. In practice, that means the same device can provide hotspot access, act as a charger when wireless functions are disabled, or remain switched off for environments where radio transmission is restricted. The company claims up to 26 hours of continuous hotspot use and as much as 48 days of standby, with 18W bi-directional charging through USB-C.
The hardware is built around portability rather than premium materials. It weighs 237g and uses a 1.44-inch HD colour display, which shows QR codes, remaining data, battery level and connection status without requiring an app. For users who want deeper control, the browser-based WebUI allows changes to Wi-Fi credentials, firewall settings and firmware updates. ZTE also says Malaysian users can use a physical SIM card alongside the embedded roaming function.
That roaming element is central to the U15S pitch. According to the product information, the built-in eSIM supports data packages in more than 150 destinations, including China, where ZTE says common apps such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, Waze and ChatGPT can be used without extra network configuration. TechNave listed package pricing from US$4.90 for short regional trips to US$73.01 for a 15-day plan in Saudi Arabia, while China plans start at US$5.44.
ZTE is also using the launch to promote a lucky draw that runs until 30 September 2026, with the prize listed as one year of global roaming data worth RM19,999. For frequent travellers, especially families or groups carrying several devices, the U15S is being sold as a practical all-in-one accessory rather than a conventional pocket router.
