Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold combines premium build, advanced durability features, and strong photography capabilities, marking a notable step forward in the foldable smartphone market despite some compromises.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold looks like a refinement rather than a reinvention, but that is not necessarily a weakness. In Pokde’s review, it emerges as one of the strongest foldables available for users who care most about photography, software support and day-to-day reliability. Its most convincing argument is not raw speed but balance: a premium build, a more useful outer display, a large battery and Google’s latest on-device AI tools working in a device that is designed to feel less fragile than many rivals.
That durability story matters because Google has leaned heavily on it. The company says the phone uses a new gearless hinge, an aerospace-grade aluminium frame and IP68 protection, making it the first foldable from a major brand to combine dust and water resistance at that level. Android Central noted that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold ships with 16GB of RAM, starts at $1,799 in the US for the 256GB model and adds Qi2 wireless charging through Google’s PixelSnap system. TechAdvisor, however, pointed out that Google’s own wording suggests the dust resistance is not a permanent guarantee and may degrade over time as the hinge wears, is damaged or needs repair.
In practice, the device is still large and heavy, and that remains one of its most obvious compromises. Pokde measured it at 258g and 10.8mm thick when folded, which makes it bulkier than several competing book-style foldables. Yet the same review also found the construction reassuring, with a responsive fingerprint reader, secure face unlock, a practical SIM tray and a finish that feels restrained rather than flashy. The outer display is now easier to use for quick tasks, which reduces how often the phone needs to be opened.
The camera system is the clear highlight. Pokde described it as the best still-camera setup it has used on a folding phone, praising its dynamic range, low-light performance and 5x optical telephoto lens. The Tensor G5 chipset does not lead benchmark charts, and the review said it trails flagship rivals in graphics-heavy testing, but it proved efficient in everyday use and delivered strong battery life. Pokde recorded 14 hours and 18 minutes in folded use and 11 hours and 8 minutes when unfolded, with charging reaching 52% in 30 minutes and a full charge in 1 hour and 32 minutes using a 100W GaN charger.
That leaves the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as a persuasive but imperfect premium device. Its software support promise of seven years remains a major selling point, and features such as live voice translation and improved multitasking make practical sense. Still, the omission of a charger, the conservative wired charging speed and the continued visibility of the inner crease mean Google has not solved every issue that still defines the foldable category. The result is a phone that feels more polished and more durable than many rivals, even if its price still asks buyers to accept a few familiar compromises.
