The new Pixel 11 Pro and Galaxy S26 cater to different priorities in the compact flagship segment, with Google excelling in camera and battery, while Samsung focuses on portability and performance.
The Google Pixel 11 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 sit in the same compact flagship class, but they appeal to different buyers. Both use 6.3-inch displays and are easier to carry than larger premium phones, yet Google and Samsung have taken noticeably different routes on design, software, cameras and battery life. PhoneArena said it spent at least a week with each device, alongside its own battery and camera tests, before drawing its conclusions.
The Galaxy S26 is the easier phone to live with if size and weight matter most. At 167g, it is much lighter than the Pixel, and Samsung has also made it thinner. The Pixel feels more substantial in the hand, though not especially heavy by flagship standards. On the display front, the Pixel has the brighter panel in PhoneArena’s lab measurements, which should help outdoors, while Samsung’s screen remains one of the phone’s main strengths.
Inside, the performance gap is clear. The Pixel 11 Pro uses Google’s Tensor G6, while the Galaxy S26 relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in US models and Exynos 2600 in global versions. In benchmark testing cited by PhoneArena, Samsung’s chip delivered stronger CPU and GPU results, with a particularly large lead in gaming. Both phones start with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, with 512GB options also available.
Camera hardware remains the Pixel’s strongest argument. According to PhoneArena, the Pixel 11 Pro’s 5x telephoto system is substantially more capable than the Galaxy S26’s 3x zoom camera, especially in low light. The Pixel also has the larger main sensor, and the review said it produced better dynamic range and more detail overall. Android Central’s comparison reached a similar conclusion, noting the Pixel’s 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto, versus Samsung’s more modest zoom setup. Google has also added more control over colour and image tuning, which makes the camera system feel more flexible than Samsung’s fixed processing style.
Battery life and charging further separate the two. The Pixel 11 Pro has a 4,850mAh battery, compared with 4,300mAh on the Galaxy S26, and PhoneArena reported better video streaming endurance for Google’s phone. Wired charging is also slightly faster on the Pixel at 30W, versus 25W on Samsung’s handset. The Pixel additionally supports Qi2.2 with built-in magnets, making magnetic wireless charging easier to use. By contrast, Samsung’s appeal rests on lighter weight, One UI and faster raw performance. For buyers who want the best compact all-rounder and can pay more, the Pixel looks stronger; for those prioritising portability and value, the Galaxy remains the more pragmatic choice.
