Google’s Pixel 10a and Pixel 10 diverge more sharply in hardware and camera features, highlighting the value gap

Google positions the Pixel 10a as a more affordable alternative to the flagship Pixel 10, with key differences in hardware, camera capabilities, and materials underscoring the value gap between the two models.

Google’s Pixel 10a and Pixel 10 are now being pitched to shoppers as two closely related phones with a sizeable price gap, and that gap is likely to do most of the persuading. On Amazon, the 256GB versions have been highlighted at €479 for the Pixel 10a and €599 for the Pixel 10, making the cheaper model the more obvious value play for buyers who want a recent Pixel without paying for the flagship badge.

According to the comparisons published by PhoneArena and TechRadar, both phones share a 6.3-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ class resolution, IP68 water resistance, 5G connectivity, wireless charging and seven years of Android updates. The software experience is therefore broadly similar, with Google’s usual emphasis on AI features and long-term support.

The real separation comes in the hardware. The Pixel 10 uses the newer Tensor G5 chip and 12GB of RAM, while the Pixel 10a is fitted with the Tensor G4 and 8GB of memory. That extra headroom gives the pricier model more performance margin, and it also helps explain why Google is reserving some of the more ambitious features for the flagship.

Camera flexibility is another clear dividing line. The Pixel 10 carries a triple-camera set-up, adding a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom to the main and ultra-wide cameras. The 10a, by contrast, stops at the main and ultra-wide lenses, which means it keeps the core Pixel photography experience but without the zoom reach that makes the more expensive handset more versatile in practice.

There are also smaller but still relevant differences in materials and charging. The Pixel 10 is said to use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and support Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W, while the 10a uses Gorilla Glass 7i and standard Qi wireless charging at up to 10W. The budget model does, however, have the slightly larger battery at 5,100mAh, versus 4,970mAh for the Pixel 10, which may help it edge ahead on endurance.

Android Central reported that the Pixel 10a was officially announced in February 2026 and launched in March as a relatively modest update, keeping the same general formula as Google’s A-series phones. That lines up with the broader picture: the 10a is the phone for buyers who want most of the Pixel experience at a lower cost, while the Pixel 10 is aimed at those willing to pay more for faster silicon, extra RAM and a more capable camera system.
