Indonesia’s budget smartphone battle heats up with Infinix Smart 20 and nubia A57

As Indonesia’s entry-level smartphone market intensifies in 2026, the Infinix Smart 20 and nubia A57 emerge as standout contenders, each prioritising different features to appeal to cost-conscious consumers.

The competition in Indonesia’s budget smartphone segment has intensified in 2026, and two names stand out in the entry-level bracket: Infinix Smart 20 and nubia A57. VIVA’s comparison shows that both phones target buyers looking for a low price, a 120Hz screen, 4GB of RAM and a large battery, but they do so with different priorities. Infinix appears to position the Smart 20 as the cheaper, battery-led option, while nubia leans on faster charging and added protection for users who want a slightly more practical all-round package. According to the pricing cited by VIVA, the Smart 20 is listed at Rp1,849,000 in Indonesia, while nubia A57 starts at Rp1,899,000 for the 4GB/64GB model and Rp1,999,000 for the 4GB/128GB version.

On paper, the two handsets are closely matched in display hardware. VIVA notes that the Infinix Smart 20 uses a 6.78-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 720 x 1600 resolution, a specification that should make routine actions such as scrolling and navigating menus feel smoother than on standard 60Hz phones. The nubia A57 is slightly smaller at 6.75 inches, but it also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and is listed with a 1560 x 720 resolution and up to 740 nits of HBM brightness. That means both devices should be suitable for light daily use such as messaging, web browsing, reading news and streaming video, although neither is designed to challenge mid-range phones on display sharpness.

The clearest difference lies in performance. VIVA says the Infinix Smart 20 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate, which gives it the stronger processor name in this comparison. The nubia A57 uses the UNISOC T7250, a chip that is generally placed in the same budget class but is unlikely to match Infinix’s more capable platform in sustained everyday responsiveness. For buyers who care more about basic multitasking, app loading and light gaming, the Smart 20 therefore has the edge. The battery story also favours Infinix at first glance, with a 5,200mAh cell that should help it last through a full day of modest use, according to the specifications cited by VIVA.

nubia, however, responds with features that may matter more to some buyers than raw battery size. Its 22.5W charging support should reduce downtime compared with slower charging systems, and the phone’s IP64 certification adds a degree of protection against dust and splashes that the Infinix model does not highlight in the same way. For users who travel frequently, work outdoors or simply want a little more peace of mind, that could be a meaningful advantage. The result is a straightforward trade-off: Infinix Smart 20 looks stronger on price and core performance, while nubia A57 is the more feature-conscious option for everyday convenience. For most buyers in this class, the final choice will come down to whether they value a lower entry price and a larger battery, or faster charging and better protection.
