Realme's C100, 16 5G and 16 Pro: new choices for durability, performance, and photography

Realme releases three distinct models, C100, 16 5G, and 16 Pro, each tailored to different user priorities, from rugged endurance to high-end imaging and all-round performance, reshaping mid-range smartphone options.

Choosing between realme’s C100, 16 5G and 16 Pro is less about which handset is “best” in the abstract and more about which one fits a particular routine. The line-up spans three clear priorities: durability and battery life, balanced everyday performance, and a stronger focus on imaging. realme’s own specifications show that the 16 5G and 16 Pro sit closer to the mainstream and upper mid-range, while the C100 is built around endurance and toughness.

The C100 is the most straightforward of the three. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip, a 6,600mAh battery, and a 144Hz LCD panel with 900 nits of brightness, which should help in outdoor use. realme also says it includes reverse charging, military-grade drop resistance, ArmorShell protection and an IP64 rating. That makes it the most suitable option for users who value resilience over display quality or camera ambition.

The realme 16 5G is the more rounded choice. According to realme, it has a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,200 nits of peak brightness, plus a 6,550mAh battery with 45W charging. The phone is powered by the Dimensity 6400 Turbo and carries an IP69 rating, which is unusually strong for this class. Its twin 50-megapixel cameras, front and rear, are tuned with AI features rather than overt photographic ambition, so it is best seen as the sensible all-rounder.

The 16 Pro is the most capable model on paper. realme lists a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and 6,500 nits of peak brightness, alongside the Dimensity 7300-Max and up to 12GB of RAM. Its main rear camera uses a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 sensor with optical image stabilisation, which is the strongest camera setup in the group. For users who care most about portrait work, display quality and higher-end features, it is the clearest recommendation.
