Gekom’s AX8 Max mini PC offers powerful upgradeability and connectivity for office and creative tasks

Gekom’s AX8 Max mini PC, now discounted on Amazon, combines robust Ryzen 7 hardware with extensive connectivity, making it ideal for office multitasking, content creation, and media setups, albeit not for high-end gaming.

Geekom’s AX8 Max is being pitched as a compact Windows desktop for people who want more than a basic office box but do not need a full tower. According to TechRadar, Amazon is currently discounting the mini PC to $584.10 from $649 as part of its Early Prime Day promotions, although the outlet notes that the machine was cheaper at $499 in October 2025. The review described it as a strong fit for everyday office work, with enough headroom for multitasking and light creative tasks.

The hardware is centred on AMD’s Ryzen 7 8745HS, an eight-core, 16-thread chip that Geekom says can boost to 4.9GHz. The company also lists Radeon 780M integrated graphics, support for up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and as much as 2TB of PCIe Gen4 storage. In practice, that places it above many entry-level mini PCs and makes it better suited to sustained productivity workloads, photo editing and general content creation than to basic web browsing alone.

Connectivity is one of the AX8 Max’s strongest points. Geekom says the system includes dual 40Gbps USB4 ports, dual 2.5GbE Ethernet ports and eight USB ports in total, while PCWorld highlighted support for quad 4K displays. That combination will appeal to users building tidy home offices, media desks or network-heavy setups where a small footprint matters as much as raw speed.

TechRadar’s reviewer praised the SSD performance and said the CPU and graphics were capable enough for standard office use as well as some multimedia editing. Other reviews have reached a similar conclusion, describing the unit as quiet under load and well suited to streaming, multitasking and office work, while also warning that its integrated graphics are not intended for serious gaming. That makes the AX8 Max a sensible choice for buyers who want a compact, upgradeable desktop with broad connectivity, but not for anyone expecting high-end gaming performance without external graphics support.
