Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a polished but imperfect follow-up that shows how far foldables have come, while also underlining how many compromises remain. The design is slimmer and more usable than earlier efforts, and the device now carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, a rare level of protection in this category. Even so, the phone still feels more like a carefully improved prototype than a full flagship alternative.
The hardware is centred on two excellent OLED panels: a 6.5-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner screen. Both are rated at up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness and support refresh rates of up to 120Hz, making them unusually bright and fluid for a foldable. Reviewers note that the inner panel is easier to use than before, but the crease remains visible, and Google’s asymmetric chassis design, including the uneven thickness when folded open, will not suit everyone.
Performance is handled by Google’s Tensor G6 chip, paired with 16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. In everyday use, the phone appears responsive, though some reviews reported occasional software freezes when juggling split-screen apps or moving between the outer and inner displays. The biometric setup is also familiar rather than ideal: the fingerprint reader is built into the power button, while face unlock works well in good light but is unreliable in darkness.
The camera system is another area where the Fold looks less ambitious than its Pro branding suggests. Google has fitted a 48MP main camera, alongside 10.5MP ultrawide and 10.8MP telephoto lenses, but the overall package is still constrained by the foldable form factor and the need for two front cameras. A new HiLight RGB LED array adds a visual flourish by changing colours for calls and Gemini interactions, although it is more novelty than essential function. At $1,899, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is clearly aimed at buyers who want a premium foldable with strong displays and refined software, not the most complete camera phone in Google’s line-up.
