Maibenben X-Treme Tsunami X16F-R98957T offers lower price at expense of performance and features

Maibenben has launched a new, more affordable version of its X-Treme Tsunami X16F-R98957T, trading premium features for a lower price and simplified configuration, impacting performance and flexibility.

Maibenben’s X-Treme Tsunami X16F-R98957T has arrived in a leaner form than the earlier version of the series, trading away several premium extras in favour of a lower price. According to IXBT Articles, the new configuration no longer includes a liquid-cooling unit or support for connecting an external cooling system, and it also drops the Ethernet port. The memory is now fitted as a single module, which means the laptop runs in single-channel mode.

The graphics subsystem has also been stepped down. Where the earlier model used GeForce RTX 5080 graphics, the revised machine now comes with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Wireless connectivity remains at Wi-Fi 6E. IXBT Articles said the overall result is a clear compromise: the buyer spends less, but gives up performance, battery life and configuration flexibility.

At launch in Russia, Maibenben positioned the X16F as a high-performance gaming notebook rather than a no-compromise flagship. Ixbt reported a starting price of 190,000 roubles, alongside a 16-core Ryzen 9 8940HX processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and a 16-inch 2.5K panel with a 300Hz refresh rate. The machine weighs about 2.3kg and uses an 80Wh battery.

Independent reviews have broadly described the display as strong, though not class-leading. Mobile-Review said the 2.5K, 300Hz panel reaches roughly 600 nits, giving buyers a choice between sharper image quality and very high refresh rates. Other hands-on tests from Photar and Playground noted that the laptop remains capable in demanding applications and performs well in games at maximum graphics settings, even without unusual features such as liquid cooling.
