RedMagic launches the Astra 2 gaming tablet in Malaysia, featuring a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and groundbreaking AquaCore Cooling System 2.0 for sustained high performance in demanding gaming sessions.
REDMAGIC has brought the Astra 2 gaming tablet to Malaysia, positioning it as a compact flagship built for sustained performance rather than general-purpose use. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and REDMAGIC’s RedCore R4 gaming chip, a combination the company says is designed to improve frame stability, touch response and power management during demanding sessions. According to REDMAGIC’s Malaysian and global product pages, the tablet is offered with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The display is one of its most aggressive specifications. REDMAGIC says the Astra 2 uses a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED panel with a 185Hz refresh rate, high peak brightness and slim bezels. It also uses a Synaptics S3930 touch system with a 300Hz average touch sampling rate and up to 2,000Hz instant sampling, aimed at reducing input delay in fast-paced games. The company adds that its Full Black Integrated Polarizer is intended to improve contrast while cutting power use.
Cooling is a central part of the pitch. REDMAGIC says the Astra 2 introduces AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, which combines liquid cooling, Liquid Metal 3.0 and a large vapour chamber. TechRadar’s review described the tablet as the first of its kind to feature liquid cooling, and said the system helped it maintain strong performance under load. That review also noted that the device is relatively light and slim for a gaming tablet, while still targeting sustained output over long sessions.
Battery life and charging are similarly tuned for extended use. REDMAGIC says the tablet carries an 8,300mAh dual-cell battery with 75W fast charging, capable of reaching a full charge in about an hour. It also includes two USB-C ports, with support for reverse charging and separate audio output. Other features include DTS Ultra-certified stereo speakers, dual X-axis linear motors for haptics, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, IP54 resistance and REDMAGIC OS 11.5 based on Android 16.
In Malaysia, the Astra 2 arrives in Black Eclipse and Starfrost finishes, with pricing set at RM3,599 for the 12GB+256GB model and RM4,399 for the 16GB+512GB version. REDMAGIC says sales begin on 8 September at 8pm through its website and Shopee. Buyers from 8 to 30 September will also receive a screen protector, a magnetic cooling case and CMF Buds 2a as launch gifts.
