Bose’s Lifestyle Ultra Speaker is being pitched as a compact wireless speaker that can act as the hub for several playback sources, from a wired turntable or portable player to streaming through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay. According to Bose’s own support material, the system is designed to be set up and managed through the Bose app, with options for stereo pairing, grouped playback and home cinema use.
The speaker is currently on sale at €340, down from its original €390 list price, which puts it within reach of buyers looking for a premium single-room or multi-room speaker. Bose says the unit is intended for flexible use rather than simple one-button playback, and that versatility is part of its appeal for users who want to move between analogue and digital sources without reconfiguring the system each time.
For a wired source, the Lifestyle Ultra Speaker includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input on the rear panel. Bose says the input can be selected by holding the play button for three seconds until the status light flashes white twice. When switching back to wireless playback, the user can stop the cable source and resume playback from the phone, tablet or app-based source instead of unplugging anything. Bose also says volume should be controlled carefully on the source device when using the aux input to avoid distortion.
