Eufy has introduced a new hardwired security-camera package that utilises on-device AI for footage analysis, face recognition, and search functions, eliminating the need for cloud-based services and offering scalability for up to 16 cameras.
Eufy has launched a new hardwired security-camera package that pushes more of the workload on to the hardware itself. The Security NVR System E50 pairs a network video recorder with local AI processing, aiming to keep footage analysis, search and facial recognition off the cloud. Gizmodo reported that the system starts at $1,200.
The standard kit ships with four power-over-ethernet cameras and a recorder with at least 2TB of expandable storage, rising to 16TB. Each camera combines a 2K fixed lens with a 4K pan, tilt and zoom unit. Eufy says the fixed lens provides constant coverage across a 115-degree field of view, while the PTZ module can rotate through 360 degrees, zoom by up to 5x and identify details at distances of up to 20 metres. Corner, wall and ceiling mounting are supported.
The company is also positioning the E50 as a scalable system rather than a fixed bundle. According to Gizmodo, it can expand to 16 cameras when connected through a PoE switch, and Eufy says users can add its own cameras, including EufyCam, SoloCam and Eufy Video Doorbell models, if they buy a Wi-Fi module upgrade. Third-party cameras are not supported. The package also includes an HDMI cable and USB mouse, so the recorder can be operated directly with a monitor.
Eufy’s pitch is built around local control. The system’s on-device AI can search recordings, recognise faces and track events from one camera to another without a subscription, the company says. It also includes colour and infrared night vision, red and blue warning strobes, built-in speakers, custom detection zones and scheduling. Eufy’s wider product line already leans on local storage and no mandatory monthly fee, and its new E50 extends that approach into a more fully integrated, hardwired platform. It is now on sale through Eufy’s website.
