Ezviz unveiled a new line of smart home security cameras and doorbells at IFA 2026 that process key AI functions locally, aiming to reduce reliance on subscriptions and enhance privacy and response times.
EZVIZ has used IFA 2026 in Berlin to argue that smart home security does not have to come with a recurring fee, unveiling a set of cameras and doorbells that process key AI functions on the device or through a local hub rather than relying on the cloud. The company says the approach is intended to reduce dependence on subscriptions while keeping detection, alerts and recording available through local storage where possible. The range is already on sale in Australia through JB Hi-Fi, according to ChannelNews.
The shift reflects a wider consumer frustration with security products that bundle basic intelligence behind monthly plans. EZVIZ says local processing can keep footage inside the home network, improve response times and reduce the impact of internet outages, although it still offers optional cloud storage and cloud-only features. In other words, the company is presenting the cloud as an add-on rather than the core of the system.
At the centre of the launch is the C6c 4K AI, an indoor pan-and-tilt camera with 4K resolution, a physical privacy shutter and on-device object recognition across as many as 130 categories. Users choose which objects the camera should watch for, rather than having every detected item trigger an alert. EZVIZ has not yet given a firm release date beyond saying the model will follow IFA, though it expects owners of the current C6c 4K to receive the upgraded recognition through an over-the-air update. The HB90f Triple is also part of the latest line-up and is already available.
The company is also showing the EP8 Ultra video doorbell, which combines dual lenses with AI person and parcel detection, familiar-face recognition and a pre-roll buffer that captures the moments before an event is triggered. T3 reported that the device uses an interactive screen with animated characters and includes swappable batteries designed to avoid removing the unit from the wall for charging. EZVIZ, which has operated globally since 2013 and is owned by Hikvision, is presenting the range from Hall 1.2, Booth 175.
