Home Assistant releases version 2026.9.0, introducing new widgets, enhanced Apple Watch integration, and broader CarPlay support to streamline smart-home management on iOS devices.
Home Assistant has released version 2026.9.0 of its iPhone app, adding a broad set of features aimed at quicker access to smart-home data and controls. According to the app listing and release notes, the update introduces 12 new functions and is now available from the Apple App Store.
The most visible additions are new widgets. Users can now place an energy widget on the Home and Lock Screen to check electricity consumption at a glance, alongside a second calendar widget for upcoming events. Home Assistant also added a medium-sized Assist widget with support for multiple pipelines, while timers can now be shown directly and Live Activities can track progress on the Lock Screen and in Dynamic Island.
The Apple Watch app has also been reworked. Home Assistant says the update brings a new Labs option for deeper customisation, plus support for sharing health data with the platform and synchronising Apple Reminders with Home Assistant’s to-do list. The watch app is also designed to handle more device controls on the wrist, including lights, covers, fans, climate systems, locks and vacuums, as well as areas and sensors.
CarPlay support has been broadened too. Climate controls and vacuum controls are now available through the car interface, which should make basic home management easier on the move. Alongside the new features, the release notes list bug fixes for widgets, Assist and deep links, plus faster app start-up and refinements to settings, entity selection and the camera player.
