Josh.ai widens smart home reach with myQ, PowerShades and Sonos Amp Multi support

Over-the-air updates add garage door, motorised blind and multi-zone audio control, while improving reliability and status reporting for newer Samsung TVs.

Josh.ai has broadened its smart home control platform with new integrations for myQ garage door systems, PowerShades motorised blinds and Sonos Amp Multi, while also improving the reliability of supported Samsung TVs. The updates are being pushed over the air across Josh.ai systems, extending the platform’s appeal to residential technology installers who want broader device compatibility in a single control environment. According to Josh.ai’s announcement and reporting by Residential Systems, the changes arrived alongside the company’s activity around CEDIA Expo 2026.

The myQ integration, built with Intrinsic Development, brings garage access into the Josh.ai ecosystem for compatible Chamberlain and LiftMaster systems. Users can open, close and stop supported garage doors, as well as control connected garage lighting. Josh.ai says the certified driver is available through Intrinsic Development and can be deployed on a per-project basis, which may suit integrators who need to tailor installations to individual homes rather than adopt a one-size-fits-all package.

Josh.ai has also added support for PowerShades through a driver created by Chowmainsoft using its Nimble DevSuite. That integration covers the PowerShades RF Gateway and PoE Gen 1 and Gen 2 motors, allowing users to open, close, stop and fine-tune blinds through touch, text and voice control. The company says the feature is available globally at no additional cost for new and existing projects, while its own announcement and Residential Systems both note that existing integrations will migrate automatically through the software update without extra dealer configuration. Josh.ai has used the same developer framework to expand other shading partnerships, including integrations with Shade Innovations and Somfy, underlining its strategy of using certified third-party development to widen device support.

The update also sharpens Josh.ai’s handling of Samsung televisions released from 2024 onwards, including The Frame range. The company says standby power-on reliability has been improved and that integrated Samsung TVs can now report their current channel back to Josh.ai, giving installers and users more detailed system status. In whole-home audio, the platform now supports Sonos Amp Multi, with each output appearing as a separate Sonos stream so that up to four zones can play independently. Users can manage content, volume and grouping through the Active Media Hub in the Josh app, and installers can combine the feature with VoiceCast for announcements through architectural speakers. The result is a broader platform spanning access control, shading, entertainment and distributed audio, with a heavier emphasis on flexibility for custom installations.
