Lutron has expanded its Caséta smart-home platform with a new Sonos Voice Control feature, enabling users to manage lights, shades, and scenes via compatible Sonos speakers, marking a significant step in integrated home automation.
Lutron is broadening its Caséta smart-home platform with a new Sonos Voice Control option that lets users manage lights and shades through compatible Sonos speakers. From today, owners can say “Hey Sonos” to switch lights on or off, adjust brightness, raise or lower shades, check device status and trigger saved Lutron scenes, according to the company and Sonos support materials.
The change deepens an already established relationship between the two brands. Caséta users have long been able to use a Pico audio remote to control Sonos playback, including play, pause, track skipping and volume, while Lutron scenes have tied together lighting, shades and music. The new feature reverses that flow, turning a Sonos speaker into a hands-free control point for Lutron devices.
According to Sonos, the feature was added to broader Lutron support on July 20, first for HomeWorks and RadioRA 3 systems, with Caséta and RadioRA 2 Select listed as coming soon at the time. The integration works locally on compatible Sonos speakers, and setup requires a Lutron Smart Hub plus a Sonos product with a microphone. Users can enable it from the Integrations section of the Lutron app, and Sonos says the commands are currently available in US English.
