Domocasa’s innovative integrated apartment in Casablanca is among five global nominees for the 2026 KNX Awards, showcasing Morocco’s growing prowess in smart building technologies and open standards for intelligent homes.
A Moroccan smart home project has been shortlisted for the KNX Awards 2026, giving Domocasa a place among five nominees in the Smart Home Award – Africa, America, Australia category for its work on an apartment at Résidence Les Arènes in Casablanca. The KNX Association says the 2026 awards will recognise projects that use its open standard for intelligent homes and buildings, with the winners due to be announced at a ceremony on 6 October 2026. Public voting for the People’s Choice Award remains open until 31 August 2026.
The Casablanca installation is presented as a fully integrated living environment rather than a collection of separate systems. According to KNX project details and Domocasa’s own description of the renovation, the apartment combines control of lighting, shutters, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, security, access management, audiovisual systems, hot water and energy monitoring. The firm says the aim was to create a home that could anticipate needs, centralise usage and make energy consumption measurable.
Central to the project is KNX, an international open standard for building automation. The KNX Association says the platform is designed to let products from different manufacturers work together in the same installation, which helps avoid lock-in to a single brand and makes later upgrades or replacements easier. Its ecosystem now includes more than 500 manufacturers and over 8,000 certified devices, according to the association.
Domocasa says the nomination reflects the growing capability of Moroccan specialists in smart building technologies, at a time when efficiency, interoperability and long-term adaptability are becoming more important in residential and commercial design. The company, which works across several Moroccan cities, positions its projects around energy efficiency, security and comfort, and says the Casablanca apartment was built as a scalable system rather than a fixed setup. Ghali Sanhaji, speaking for Domocasa, described the shortlist as recognition not only for the company but also for the wider Moroccan smart-building ecosystem.
