Phyn expands water monitoring suite with stronger insurer focus and commercial-ready options

Phyn introduces a new range of water leak detection devices, including the flagship Phyn Protect and the commercial-ready Phyn Protect XL Series, as it intensifies its push into the insurance-backed water loss prevention sector with expanded partnerships and new product tiers.

Phyn has broadened its water monitoring and leak protection line-up with new products aimed at both households and larger buildings, in a move that pushes the company further into the insurance-linked water loss prevention market. The latest range includes Phyn Protect, Phyn Assist and the Phyn Protect XL Series, alongside a wider commercial push through an expanded arrangement with Asurion and a new partner programme for insurers and agencies.

The company’s new flagship device, Phyn Protect, is positioned as a whole-home monitor with automatic shutoff and a tougher industrial design than its earlier model. According to Phyn’s product information, it uses pressure-wave analysis to identify leaks quickly, provides water-use insights and is built for main supply lines up to 1.25 inches. It also supports integration with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT, indicating a stronger emphasis on smart-home compatibility as well as damage prevention.

Phyn Assist is aimed at making installation easier while still offering whole-home detection. The company says the system uses AI to spot problems ranging from small drips to major pipe failures, but without the automatic shutoff function that sits at the centre of the premium model. That distinction matters for homeowners, landlords and smaller property managers who want continuous monitoring but may not need, or be able to fit, a shutoff valve.

The most notable expansion is the Phyn Protect XL Series, which brings the same monitoring and shutoff approach to larger homes, multifamily buildings and commercial properties with supply lines of up to two inches. That is a material extension of the addressable market, since many monitoring systems are designed around standard residential mains and struggle to accommodate bigger or more complex plumbing layouts. Citybiz reported that the wider portfolio is intended to extend Phyn’s technology across a broader range of residential and commercial properties.

Phyn is also leaning more heavily on insurance distribution. The company said it is now powering all three tiers of Asurion’s LeakProtect offering, from basic leak monitoring to whole-home protection with automatic shutoff. Asurion recently added a monitoring-only Essential tier, while its Standard and XL tiers cover shutoff-enabled protection and larger properties, respectively, according to reporting from MobileStalk and FF Spotlight. Phyn’s new Partner Advantage programme is meant to give insurers, brokers and agencies the tools to make proactive water protection easier to offer to policyholders, underscoring how leak detection is increasingly being sold not just as a home-tech feature, but as a risk-management tool.
