Rithum launches Version 5.2 of its smart home control panels, introducing personalised gesture controls and SIP-based intercom features to optimise user convenience and communication efficiency across rooms.
Rithum has rolled out Version 5.2 of its software, a free update that pushes the company’s wall-mounted smart home panels further towards personalised, room-by-room control. According to Rithum’s announcement, the update is designed to make everyday use feel quicker and more natural, with changes aimed at reducing the number of taps needed to reach common settings.
One of the biggest changes is gesture customisation. Until now, a double tap on a panel was reserved for play and pause, but Rithum says that gesture can now be assigned to any scene or action in the home. That could mean lighting, music, climate control or a multi-room routine, depending on how the system is set up. The company also says each panel can now wake straight into Media, Levels or Climate views, so a kitchen screen can open with music controls while a bedroom panel can go directly to heating or cooling settings.
Rithum is also adding inter-switch intercom features for compatible Switch Pro devices. Its support documentation says Version 5.2 enables SIP calling between panels and other compatible endpoints, with calls able to be routed to one destination, several destinations or all configured contacts at once. In practical terms, that turns the panel into a built-in communication tool rather than just a control surface, while the separate audio intercom guides show that the platform already supports SIP-based door and intercom integrations over Ethernet.
The broader pattern is clear: Rithum is leaning into a simpler, more context-aware interface rather than adding complexity for its own sake. Its earlier firmware notes and setup guides show a steady focus on incremental improvements, from interface tweaks to cloud support, and Version 5.2 follows the same path. For homeowners, the appeal is convenience; for installers, it is a little more flexibility without a redesign of the system.
