As hackers target artificial intelligence platforms with increasing sophistication, users must adopt vigilant security practices, including session management and multi-factor authentication, to safeguard their online identities across AI services.
Hackers can target accounts on AI services in the same way they attack email, social media and cloud storage. TechCrunch says the main warning signs are unfamiliar active sessions, unexpected logouts and changes you did not make. The practical response is the same across most services: use a unique password where one exists, keep it in a password manager and turn on multi-factor authentication, because a stolen password alone should not be enough to get in.
The exact checks differ by platform. In ChatGPT, TechCrunch says users should open the account settings in a browser, go to the security and login area and review active sessions. Any device that looks suspicious can be signed out individually, or all sessions can be ended at once. If the password needs changing, the account must first be signed out, after which OpenAI’s login flow sends a six-digit code by email before a new password can be set. TechCrunch adds that Claude takes a different approach because Anthropic does not use passwords at all; instead, it sends a login link to the user’s email address.
Perplexity is less transparent about where an account is logged in, so TechCrunch recommends a broader reset if there is any concern. That means opening the settings menu, choosing the option to sign out of all sessions and then confirming. The user can then log back in with an emailed six-digit code or a sign-in link. This is one of the clearest reminders that account recovery on AI platforms is not always identical: some services rely on session management, while others depend on passwordless email access.
Security guidance from TechCrunch’s earlier account-hacking guide, as well as similar advice from other technology publications, points to the same basic lesson: if you see unexplained account changes, do not treat them as minor glitches. Check recent logins, review security settings, revoke sessions you do not recognise and secure the account that controls the rest of your sign-ins, usually email. For most users, that sequence matters more than any one platform-specific feature.
