Apple keeps Keynote and Numbers free as Creator Studio adds premium tools

Apple’s 15.4 updates preserve core editing and collaboration features at no cost, while subscribers gain new intelligence tools, templates and design content.

Apple’s latest Keynote and Numbers 15.4 releases draw a clearer line between what remains free and what sits inside Apple Creator Studio. According to the App Store release notes, the apps still allow users to create, view and edit documents without a subscription, and real-time collaboration also remains available to everyone. The paid tier adds a separate set of intelligence tools and premium design content, continuing Apple’s move to split core productivity features from subscription extras.

Among the additions available at no cost, Apple lists request-based access for shared presentations and spreadsheets, Siri support for questions about both apps, and new trigonometry, statistics and logic functions in Numbers. Apple says those formulas are intended to help users solve more complex problems, although it has not publicly named each function in the release notes. Both apps also receive stability improvements, which should matter more to everyday users than the more visible subscription-only additions.

For Apple Creator Studio subscribers, the 15.4 update adds a new set of professionally designed themes in Keynote and fresh templates in Numbers. MacRumors reported earlier in the year that Apple had already positioned the bundle as a way to unlock premium content and intelligent features across its apps, including a Content Hub of photos, graphics and illustrations. Apple’s own support pages say the subscription now extends beyond Keynote and Numbers to include other creative tools such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro, with family sharing available on standard plans.

The pricing remains unchanged in the US at $12.99 a month or $129 a year, while students and educators can pay less. Apple also says new subscribers get a trial period, and that users who cancel keep their documents but lose access to paid intelligence features once the billing cycle ends. The company adds that some features require Apple Intelligence-capable hardware and that certain AI functions may rely on third-party models with usage limits. On the hardware side, Apple says Keynote and Numbers now require its latest operating system releases on Mac, iPad and iPhone, with Vision Pro support also tied to the newer software line.
