Apple appears to be lining up iOS 26.6.1 after already shipping macOS 26.6.1 on Friday to fix a Screen Sharing problem on Macs. The Mac update is a typical point release: a small but urgent patch meant to close a bug or security gap that cannot wait for the next major software cycle. The iPhone update is not yet official, but Reddit users have claimed that iOS 26.6 broke Shortcuts automation. That feature lets an iPhone trigger actions based on location, app launches, time of day or battery level. Apple’s own support material shows that these automations are meant to be manageable from the Shortcuts app, where users can switch them on or off and control whether they run without asking.
The timing suggests Apple may be responding to more than one defect at once.
