Apple has rolled out macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, a security-focused update addressing more than a dozen vulnerabilities, while leaving macOS Sequoia and Sonoma without equivalent patches. The update targets App Store permissions and AppleJPEG, emphasizing Apple’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Mac security.
Apple has issued macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 as a security-focused update for Macs running Tahoe, with reporting from OS X Daily and MacRumors indicating that it contains more than a dozen security fixes and is recommended installation. The release does not appear to be paired with equivalent security updates for macOS Sequoia or Sonoma at this stage.
Apple’s own security notes point to fixes in areas such as App Store permissions and AppleJPEG, the image-processing component used by the operating system. According to Apple’s support page, one issue could have allowed an app to reach sensitive payment tokens, while another involved memory corruption that was addressed with improved bounds checking.
The update is delivered through System Settings under General and Software Update, where users can choose Update Now after backing up first, as recommended by OS X Daily. A restart is required to complete installation. Apple has also pushed related security updates for iPhone and iPad, including iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, iOS 18.7.10 and iPadOS 18.7.10.
